The Standard Bottling Company was originally established in Hamrun as the Standard Mineral Water Factory. It was founded by the Cuschieri Family and operational from the 1940s to the 1980s. The firm manufactured and bottled a variety of carbonated soft drinks including the Solo brand, which came in multiple flavours, along with Solera and FrissKee.
